Jesus Christ, Names and Titles of

Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world, is known by scores of different names or titles throughout scripture. No one title perfectly describes his magnificent and unique role in the Father’s plan, but all of his titles collectively help us better know and reverence him. Portraying the Savior’s vast mission, the prophet Isaiah wrote, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Jesus Christ is also the Rock, the Word, the Love of God, the Creator, the Advocate, the Judge, the Chief Cornerstone, the Only Begotten of the Father, Jehovah, the Great I Am, the Firstfruits of the Resurrection, the Son of Man, Immanuel, the Bread of Life, the Living Water, the King of kings, the Mediator, the Messenger of the Covenant, the Firstborn, and the True Vine. He is the Prophet, our Master and Lord, the Son, the Good Shepherd, the Lamb of God, the Light of the World, the Resurrection and the Life, the Great High Priest, the Second Comforter, and the Great Exemplar. He is Savior, Redeemer, and the source of all hope. He is the Anointed One—Messiah and Christ. He is God.
